This course focuses on job interviews in non-academic settings. Who conducts the interview on the company side, and what goals do they pursue? Through a mix of inputs based on practical recommendations, exercises, and group work, we will develop success factors of job interviews. How do I prepare, what do I wear, and how do I engage in small talk before the interview starts? Self-presentation, which can be practiced very well, will be covered and also how to handle tricky questions concerning salary or strengths and weaknesses. The ultimate objective will be to achieve a confident and, most importantly, authentic presentation.

Learning targets:

Upon completion of the course, participants will know:

• how to best prepare for a job interview,
• the typical structure of job interviews,
• how to respond to challenging questions, and
• what to keep in mind for the follow-up.

Target group:

PostDocs, who are interested in embarking non-academic careers.

Organisational details:

• When you register as a mandatory participant, please note that attending the training is part of your official duties and an unexcused absence is a violation of your official responsibilities. Any further education undertaken during your working hours is subject to the prior approval of your manager.

• Fee for external postdocs: 160,00 €. Free for postdocs of CAU.

• Cancellation and No-Show for Paid Participation
  Registration may be canceled free of charge up to 48 hours before the start of the training course, unless otherwise expressly agreed. The date and time the cancellation is received by the training provider shall be decisive.
  If cancellation occurs less than 48 hours before the start of the training, the full participation fee is due. This also applies if the participant fails to attend the training without prior cancellation.
  The participant reserves the right to prove that the actual loss was less.
